Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said that out of the licences procured by people in India, 30 percent are fake. Gadkari was of the opinion that the time has come when a check on ‘bogus’ licences be made and added that the Centre is soon going to start an online system in order to conduct computerized test nationwide for issuing driving licences.
Speaking with the media, he said no one would be spared and everyone will have take the test in order to get a licence and had added that for doing it the Centre would set up 5,000 new driving centers. He said, “Everyone, be it a politician, an official or a celebrity, will have to take the test to get a licence. There will be complete transparency.” As per to the report collected by Ministry, out of 18 crore licences around 5.4 crore fell under the ‘bogus’ category, said the official. This is also to be known that out of the six crore licences, nearly 74 lakh were found fake.
