AIMPLB to oppose talaq plea in SC

Last month, the Supreme Court had admitted the petition of Shayara Bano seeking triple talaq to be declared unconstitutionally.
Taking note of her case Supreme Court initiated suo motu proceedings to examine the need for protecting rights of Muslim women.
During the meeting, AIMPLB memebers saw the legal developments as attempts to “interfere” with Shariat laws.
When the question raised that the triple talaq was not in practice in Iraq, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, AIMPLB members said that Shariat laws differs from place to place.
