Kupwara district authorities directed people to get their WhatsApp “news” groups registered in 10 days. The circular came after the Kashmir divisional commissioner asked district magistrates to register “social media news (Facebook) pages”. It is also directed that the government employees in Kupwara restraining them to make any comments against government policies in WhatsApp groups.
The circular is the latest clampdown on social media usage in Jammu and Kashmir.
