Today, Hon’ble Supreme Court in corruption case against Karti Chidambaram, ordered him to mark his appearance before the CBI headquarters in New Delhi on August 23 to join an investigation with regard to receiving gratification from INX media so as to break the foreign investment.
Karti asserted that he has been using as scapegoat, the the real target was his father, Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram. CBI also put forth the status report of the ongoing probe in a sealed cover.
Bench presided by CJI Khehar has said that LOC issued by CBI will keep alive till August 23, further extension would depend upon the outcome of investigation, CJI made some suggestions to CBI that If you have no material, there is no need for LOC. If you have material, then you can arrest him.
CJI elucidated Karti that CBI as of now opted a softer option, they could have done more within a statutory limits but they have done the least.
