Prof. (Dr.) Himanshu Pandey has been appointed as Professor of Law and Head, Department of Law at Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya (DHGV), Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. In addition to this prestigious appointment, he has also been entrusted with the additional charge of Finance Officer (Officiating).
Prior to this appointment, he served as the Professor of Law, Controller of Examinations and various academic and adminstrative capacities at Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Nagpur.
Academic and Professional Journey
Dr. Pandey began his academic career in 2005 as a Lecturer at Vivek Law College, Bijnor (U.P.). He subsequently served as Assistant Professor at the School of Law, Devi Ahilya University, Indore (2007–2015). From July 2015 to November 2016, he worked as Associate Professor of Law-cum-Registrar at the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Guwahati, Assam. On November 26, 2016, he joined MNLU Nagpur as Associate Professor of Law, where he held several significant administrative and academic positions.
He has served as Head, Centre for Corporate Law & Governance; Convener, Examination Committee; Member of Executive Council, Academic Council, Research Committee, Building Committee, Purchase Committee, and Editor of the ‘MNLU Nagpur Contemporary Law Review’, a bi-annual peer-reviewed faculty journal.
Dr. Pandey has made significant contributions to research and academia. He co-directed an ICSSR-sponsored project on hate crimes and prejudices faced by people from North Eastern States. His research interests span Research Methodology, Insurance Law, Company Law, Evidence Law, and International Trade Law.
He has authored several research papers and developed e-content for the UGC e-Pathshala Project under the National Mission on Education through ICT, Ministry of Education, Government of India. His published modules include works on Basics of Research, Research Problem, Research Design, Methods of Data Collection, and Tools & Techniques of Data Collection.
Dr. Pandey has also delivered special lectures at reputed institutions such as National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur; Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai; UGC-HRDC, DAVV Indore; Institute of Company Secretaries of India (Indore Chapter); and NIPCCD, Indore.
About Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar
Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya (DHGV), Sagar, formerly University of Saugor, is a premier Central Universityestablished on 18th July 1946 by Dr. Sir Harisingh Gour (1870–1949) through his life savings of nearly two crore rupees. It was the 18th university of India, and remains the oldest and largest university of Madhya Pradesh.
Dr. Gour, an eminent jurist, educationist, philanthropist, patriot, and social reformer, left an indelible mark on Indian higher education by establishing this institution as a symbol of his vision and generosity.

The Department of Law at DHGV, Sagar, is one of the oldest law schools in central India. It has produced generations of distinguished judges, academicians, lawyers, and public servants who have contributed immensely to the legal system and society at large.
