Mufti Abdul Qayum, the cleric who spent in eleven years in prison before being absolved by the Supreme Court a year ago in the Akshardham temple terror attack case, said he has full confidence in the freedom and trustworthiness of the most elevated court in the land.
“We ought to be glad for our Supreme Court which is an imperative establishment of the nation on which the popular government rests,” the Mufti said while talking at a project held by the AMU Students’ Union on Thursday to congratulate him.
Qayum has also authored the book ‘Gyarah Saal Salaakhon Ke Peechhe’ (Eleven Years Behind Bars) which portrays his tribulations in the wake of being charged by the Gujarat police for complicity in the above case. Qayum had before deferred the arrival of the book after police had declined to authorization to hold the book discharge occasion in Ahmedabad.
The AMU Students’ Union is helping the Mufti in getting the book discharged in New Delhi one week from now.
