NLSIU proposes to publish a book titled “Good Governance – The RTI Way”, as ‘NLSIU Book Series – 3’.
The first book in this series, titled Contracts, Agreements and Public Policy in India was released by the Hon. Chief Justice of India at the NLS Convocation 2015.
The acclaim for this book has motivated us to undertake the publication of the second book in this series, titled Energy Law and Policy in India, also under the editorship of Prof Sairam Bhat.
We invite contributions from Law Teachers, Practitioners, Researchers, RTI Activists, Consultants, Students, and other interested persons.
These may be under the following broad topics:
1. Right to Information Act and its compliance
2. Right to Information Act as an anti- corruption tools
3. The Right to Privacy and Right to Information Act
4. Right to Information Act and Good Governance in India
5. Right to Information Act promoting Accountability and Transparency in Public sector undertaking
6. Right to Information Act and its effectiveness to eradicate the corruption
7. Right to Information Act and effective service delivery
8. Right to Information Act and Whistle Blowers
9. Right to Information Act and role of the NGOs
10. Right to Information Act and Corporate Law in India
11. Ambit and scope of the Right to Information Act
12. Exemption under Right to Information Act
13. Competent authority and RTI
14. RTI and Human Rights
15. Right to information and Consumer Rights
16. Environment Protection and Right to Information Act
17. Right to Information Act and public policy
Submissions, under the following categories, are welcome:
1. Long Articles – between 5000 and 8000 words including footnotes
2. Short Articles – between 2500 and 3000 words including footnotes
3. Case Comments and case summaries
4. General write-ups and comments
Submission Guidelines:
1. Submissions are to be made only in electronic form (MS Word format, ie .doc or .docx). They are to be sent to [email protected]
2. Details about the author(s), including qualifications and institutional affiliations, if any, are to be mentioned in the covering letter. Co-authorship (up to 3 authors) is permitted.
3. Only original work need be sent. It is presumed that, once the work has been sent, that it is the original work of the author(s) so named and that it has not been published anywhere else.
Scope and relevance: The work must be on contemporary legal issues on the Right to Information, under the themes outlined above.
The language used must be formal and clear, adhering to the submission guidelines.
Papers must be accompanied by an abstract of 300–400 words.
A uniform mode of citation of legal authorities must be followed throughout the work (20th Edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, is recommended).
Review Process
The submissions received would be reviewed by the Editor(s) to determine whether the subject matter fits within the scope of the topic and assess the quality of the manuscript.
The decision on publication will be solely the discretion of the Chief Editor and will require a minimum of 1–2 weeks after the deadline.
