SpiceJet told to pay 10 lakhs for offloading disabled flyer within 2 months

4 years of struggle by Jeeja Ghosh, director of Disability Studies at Indian Institute of Cerebral Paisy finally ended when the Honorable Supreme Court directed SpiceJet to pay 10 lakhs as damages to her for violating Civil Aviation Requirement Guidelines,2008.
She was travelling to Goa from Kolkata in SpiceJet, four years ago when she was forced by the piolet to offload as according to him she was not fit to fly. Despite her pleas, that she had earlier travelled on air and her disability as nothing to hamper her fitness to fly, she was offloaded.
Supreme Court found the act of SpiceJet very callous.
SpiceJet is asked to compensate within 2 months.
Jeeja said: ” After 4 years, I can breathe easy. My insult has been avenged and I finally stand tall and in pride.”
