Law Mantra team conducted an interview with Prof. Abhishek Mishra relating to his new book: Indian Capital Market-Legal Regime.
The book is about the functioning of Indian Capital Market and it’s legal regulation. The author has chosen the topics catering around the need of law in capital market. He has focused on three laws inherently legislated to regulate the Indian Capital Market, that is:
- Security and Exchange Board of India, 1992 (SEBI Act)
- Securities Contracts (Regulations) Act, 1956(SCRA)
- Depositories Act, 1996
He also dealt with the Company’s Act as in how it regulates the capital market.
When asked about his inspiration in writing the book, he said that as an Assistant Professor when he was given to teach Indian Capital Market he found that there was no basic text book of the particular topic from Law prospective. There were several books from management or financial prospective but not from prospective of law. There were just bare acts and case laws to refer. For the help of students and teachers interested in this subject, he has written this book.
His book will be attractive to the readers as he explained the law with illustrations which is easy to understand the basic interpretation of the law. Though he has mainly written it in dedication of the private entities.
He has given a clear image how finance and economy are related to each other, how globalization, privatization and liberalization attracted foreign investors, how does the government and SEBI regulates the Capital Market and give securities to the investors and how laws are developed around the loopholes of law.
His book is beneficial not only for Law students but also for CA, CS and Management students for this book is a basic, scientific and matured approach towards the study of Indian Capital Market.
